| Subject: Archetype Lesson 1 - Qliphort Wed Jul 23, 2014 3:04 pm | |
| Archetype: Qliphort Intro:(At time of this lesson, Qliphorts aren’t going to be released for 4 more months).Qliphort is an Archetype that is going to be released in November 2014 in “The New Challengers” for the TCG. They are a new Archetype that are mostly Pendulum Monsters. With this, they are the second known Archetype of this new kind of cards. Although they are very new, they already took the Yu-Gi-Oh community by storm. They are fast, consistent, able to stun and definitely no 1-trick pony. While they have a fantastic Boss Monster that is near invincible, they can also dominate the Duel by Spamming monsters each turn, or just beating with their monsters by use of Skill Drain. To give you an idea of how we think they are going to change the meta; the price of “Summoner’s Art” (a Rare) has increased from 1 dollar to 15 dollar in only 2 weeks’ time. Let’s see if the price goes up even more. I’ll now go over the different cards of the Archetype. I’ll give you a basic lesson about these, but you’ll have to check for the effects on your own on Dueling Network. Card list:
- Qliphort Tool
- Spoiler:
This card is the heart of the Deck. This card can be searched with 2 different cards, and it searches out every other card of the Archetype on its own for a small price. It’s biggest weakness is definitely “Thunder King Rai-Oh” (or the Trap Card “Mistake”). While it’s true that “Mystical Space Typhoon” can devastate this card, it’s just a minor setback for it.
You should run this card at 3.
- Qliphort Archive
- Spoiler:
This card is just a monster that can be Pendulum Summoned. In the Deck, that part is the most important, since there aren’t many Qliphort Monsters at this point. What really makes this card good, is his last effect. When he is Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a Qliphort monster, you can send a monster from the opponent back to their hand. Since all Qliphorts are all high levelled, they can all be Tribute Summoned.
Free Compulsory Evacuation Device? Why not?
You should run this card at 2-3
- Qliphort Genome
- Spoiler:
This card is just a monster that can be Pendulum Summoned. In the Deck, that part is the most important, since there aren’t many Qliphort Monsters at this point. What really makes this card good, is his last effect. When he is Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a Qliphort monster, you can destroy a Spell or Trap on the Field. Since all Qliphorts are all high levelled, they can all be Tribute Summoned.
Free Mystical Space Typhoon? Why not?
You should run this card at 2-3
- Qliphort Disk
- Spoiler:
This card is just a monster that can be Pendulum Summoned. In the Deck, that part is the most important, since there aren’t many Qliphort Monsters at this point. What really makes this card good, is his last effect. When he is Tribute Summoned, you get to Special Summon 2 more Qliphorts from your DECK. How amazing is that. Even though they are destroyed in the End Phase, it are still 2 more beaters you just Summoned for free. Also, when Pendulum Monsters are destroyed, they go to the Extra Deck, so it isn’t even to bad, that they are destroyed. They’ll just come back next turn.
This card promotes OTK’s in this Deck.
You should run this card at 1-3
- Qliphort Shell
- Spoiler:
This card is just a monster that can be Pendulum Summoned. In the Deck, that part is the most important, since there aren’t many Qliphort Monsters at this point. On top of that, he also has a decent last effect. When he is Tribute Summoned, he can attack twice per turn, and he does Piercing Damage. With 2800 Attack, that’s definitely a formable treat.
This card promotes OTK’s in this Deck.
You should run this card at 1-2
- Apoqliphort Killer
- Spoiler:
This card is the Boss Monster of this Deck. Searchable by Qliphort Tool, and when he is successfully Summoned, he is near invincible. Being Unaffected by Spells and Traps does that to a card. If you want to hear (read ‘learn’) more about this behemoth, just follow this link: https://northacademy.forummotion.com/t1975-apoqliphoth-killerYou should run this card at 2.
- Saqliphort
- Spoiler:
The card’s name actually says what it is; saq (sack). When this card goes from the field to the grave, you can search any Qliphort monster from your Deck, which obviously means, you’ll get Qliphort Tool, and then be able to search some more. Even though it’s an Equip Spell, it’s really great.
You should run this card at 3.
- Qliphortress
- Spoiler:
When Konami decided to give the Qliphorts a Field Spell, it seems they didn’t want to make the card to broken. The best this card can do, is make sure that your Normal Summons won’t be negated. That doesn't’mean however, that you can’t get Bottomless Trap Holed, or Torrential Tributed.
The only thing it actually helps you to achieve, is that the opponent can’t use Counter Traps, like “Solemn Warning” to stop your Normal Summon.
You should run this card at 0-1.
- Apoqliphort
- Spoiler:
This card can be really good late game. It recycles some of your Qliphort monsters that were previously removed from the field. It adds up to 3 monsters from your Extra Deck to your hand, which is amazing, since you can just choose what monsters you want to Tribute with your next Pendulum Summon, and what monsters you want to Tribute Summon. It is also great to recycle your “Qliphort Tool”, so you can set it again as your Pendulum Scale.
You should run this card at 1-2
- Qliphortran
- Spoiler:
This card is actually good, if we would constantly Normal Summon the Qliphorts. Since they are Special Summoned most of the time, this card is going to be a waste a lot. Also, a Normal Summoned Qliphort actually has a good effect, and then we are going to negate it? Doesn’t seem to great. Sure you save your monster, but Forbidden Lance also does the job. You should run this card at 0.
Deck types:
- Stun
- Spoiler:
Qliphorts can easily run some anti-meta cards. Most formidable of them being “Majesty’s Fiend” and “Skill Drain”. Monster Effects don’t mean much for this Archetype, and that’s a big factor in Dueling these days.
- Apoqliphort SPAM
- Spoiler:
Just a focus on their boss monster. The deck draws really fast with stuff like “Upstart Goblin”, just to get to the combo pieces faster. That way, the Boss Monster can be brought out turn 1, what often gives you a clear road to victory.
- Control
- Spoiler:
Basically what most Qliphort players are now running. A lot of cards to keep consistency going, and slowly taking down your opponent’s cards so you can OTK easier. Drawing cards aren’t added in here, since you need the room for a few more Trap Cards, to balance the game.
- Monarchs
- Spoiler:
Since some Qliphorts get their effect when Tributed, people are trying to fit Monarchs in it. Imagine you Tribute “Qliphord Genome” for “Caius, the Shadow Monarch”. At this point you can Banish 1 card, and destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card. Seems pretty good on paper at least.
Support:Like with every Archetype, a lot of cards are good when combined with it. Here I’ll name a few: * Skill Drain * Summoner’s Art * Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon * Entermate Trampolynx * Limiter Removal HomeworkMake a Qliphort Deck based on the things you learned today. Make sure that the Maindeck has 40-42 cards, and that you have made a Side Deck and Extra Deck. If you have done this, send me the Deck in a PM. Then I will also send you my version of a Qliphort Deck. This way we can learn from each other. Do NOT post your homework in this topic. This will give others the chance to cheat. Send the homework in a pm to me (KM888).

| If they're not on DN, how do you expect people to make the deck? |

| Considering cliphotran: you can just normal summon a monster without a tribute and then negate the effect, which basically makes your shells and disks 3100atk beaters with a forbidden lance effect on it. | |

They are on DN for like a week already lol. Get with the program JD Type in Qliphort to find them, not Qliphoth. They got a name change. | |
