PostSubject: What Format/Year Would You Have Liked to Play YGO In?   Sat Aug 08, 2015 8:39 pm

This is a question I find particularly interesting, considering background for players around here range from just a month ago to back when Yata-Chaos was just starting out.

If you found any particular format/year of YGO interesting, please share your response and why you liked it so much. It could be the Dragon Ruler format because of the amount of skill from the mirror matches, or the Goat-Control format because of how much thought is required into each card you play, including Dust Tornado and MST. (You can even select this year, if that takes your interest.)

If you need any help as far as a particular format or year that you would like to pick from, I can provide some help as far as the World Championship winners of each year.

2003: Hand Control (Don Zaloog, Delinquent Duo, The Forceful Sentry, Confiscation, etc.)
2004: Yata-Chaos (Witch of the Black Forest/Sangan, Chaos Emperor Dragon, Yata-Garasu, etc.)
2005: Goat Control (Metamorphosis, Breaker the Magical Warrior, Scapegoat, Thousand-Eyes Restrict, etc.)
2006: "Chaos Recruiter" (Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, Chaos Sorcerer, Cyber Dragon, etc.)
2007: "Trooper Monarch" (Raiza the Storm Monarch, Card Trooper, Brain Control, etc.)
2008: Gladiator Beast (Gladiator Beast Bestiari, Gyzarus, etc.)
2009: Blackwings (Gale, Shura, Bora, Blizzard, etc.)
2010: Frog FTK (Substitoad, Mass Driver, Ronintoadin, etc.)
2011: Agents (Earth, Venus, Hyperion, etc.)
2012: Inzektors (Dragonfly, Hornet, Centipede, etc.)
2013: Dragon Rulers (Blaster, Redox, Tidal, Tempest, etc.)
2014: Infernity (Archfiend, Necromancer, Lavalval Chain, Infernity Break, etc.)

(My opinion would've been Goat Control and Tele-DAD. Yes, you can see this post from VDA as well.)

my first archetype deck is gladiator beast, but i dont know how to duel at that time, during the time i play real is dragon ruler age(2013)at that time i am using dragunity as main deck(when dragon ravine is 3, but i think in next format dragon ravine will come back to 3 too)after dragon ravine is banned, i lose my main deck and starting to search an archetype that can satisfy me until today.so actually that format is a starting point for me, also, if i have not meet with rusty gloves, i think i still dont know about the strategy ans the rules of yu gi oh.

Probably Tele-Dad and Goat Control. They both sounded like fun, I started playing with the Exxod starter deck, and taught myself the basics, then moved on to Six Samurai as a more competitive build as I started to hone my skills, then I moved on to Lightsworn. I would have liked to have been playing in GOAT Control and Tele-Dad era though!! :3

I might, but I think this was more just out of curiosity. It'd be cool to have a Back to the Past Tourney if it was arranged properly (like to include what set was released during the time, what the ban list was, etc.)

And yeah, BW format did exist at one point.

I think 2012 was the height of Yugioh. The beginning of XYZ and the formation of some real strategy with Dino Rabbit and Wind-Ups. That was my favorite era of Ygo. Now I don't even understand how to play.

After experiencing some of the late formats, back then would probably be a breeze, and so much more fun. xD
