Will Red-Eyes be competitive? Tier 1 Potential? Empty
PostSubject: Will Red-Eyes be competitive? Tier 1 Potential?   Will Red-Eyes be competitive? Tier 1 Potential? EmptyThu Mar 19, 2015 7:31 pm

In case you have been living under a rock, Red-eyes black dragon is receiving a lot of impressive support. The supports ranges from a themed shadoll fusion, a 3200 beater with armadas eff that can inflict 2400 burn dmg, an xyz that burns an opponent for simply playing cards, thier own saqlifice, and many more powerful support. I'm going to show the effects of the cards that impress me the most and then discuss where i see them in the meta today.

Black Metal Dragon
Level 1 DARK Effect Monster
ATK 600
DEF 600
(1) You can target 1 “Red-Eyes” monster you control; equip this card from your hand or side of the field to that target. It gains 600 ATK.
(2) If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 “Red-Eyes” cad from your Deck to your hand.

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
Rank 7 DARK Dragon-Type Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 2800
DEF 2400
2 Level 7 monsters
(1) This card with Xyz Materials cannot be destroyed by card effects.
(2) While this card has Xyz Materials, inflict 500 damage to your opponent each time your opponent activates a card or effect.
(3) Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 “Red-Eyes” Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

Akumaryuu – Black Daemon’s Dragon / Fiend Dragon – Black Daemon’s Dragon / Black Dragon Archfiend
1 Level 6 “Archfiend” Normal monster + 1 “Red-Eyes” Normal monster
You can only control 1 “Black Dragon Archfiend”.
(1) If this card attacks or is attacked, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.
(2) At the end of the Battle Phase, if this Fusion Summoned card attacked or was attacked: You can target one “Red-Eyes” Normal monster in your Graveyard; inflict damage to your opponent equal to that target’s original ATK, then, return that target to the Deck.

Red-Eyes Fusion
Normal Spell
You can only activate 1 “Red-Eyes Fusion” per turn, and you cannot Normal Summon or Special Summon any other monsters this turn.
(1) Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster that lists a “Red-Eyes” monster as a Fusion Material Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand, Deck, or your side of the field as Fusion Materials. The name of the Fusion Monster Special Summoned with this effect is treated as “Red-Eyes B. Dragon”.

Black Stone of Legend
Level 1 DARK Dragon-Type Effect Monster
ATK 0
DEF 0
You can only use 1 “Black Stone of Legend” effect per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 Level 7 or lower “Red-Eyes” monster from your Deck.
(2) If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 7 or lower “Red-Eyes” monster in your Graveyard; shuffle it into the Deck, and if you do, return this card from your Graveyard to your hand
Return of Red-Eyes
Continuous Trap Card
You can only use each effect of “Return of Red-Eyes” once per turn.
(1) If you control a “Red-Eyes” monster: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that monster.
(2) If this card is destroyed by your opponent’s effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 “Red-Eyes” monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that monster.

Note this sin't red-eyes support, but if the tcg follow suite with the ocg and bans the dragon rulers, red-eyes will be the only viable deck to summon this monster
Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon
Pendulum Effect Once per turn, if you do not have a card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can choose 1 Pendulum Monster from your Deck and place it in that Pendulum Zone.
Monster Effect 2 Level 7 Dragon-Type monsters
If you can Pendulum Summon Level 7 monsters, you can Pendulum Summon this face-up card from your Extra Deck. If this card is Xyz Summoned by using an Xyz Monster as any of its Materials: This card can make up to 3 attacks during each Battle Phase this turn, also destroy as many Level 7 or lower monsters your opponent controls as possible, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent for each monster destroyed by this effect. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can destroy all cards in your Pendulum Zones, and if you do, place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

thoughts on the cards:
these 6 cards impress me the most out of all the red-eyes support released so far in Clash of Rebellion. for one you have a stone card that can just summon Red-Eyes Black dragon straight from the deck and then if red-eyes is destroyed you can simply just recycle both cards, creating a loop that can go on through out the duel. A shadoll fusion that doesn't need you're opponent to control and extra deck monster to use at its full potential and brings out a 3200 beater with an armades effect that can also recycle a red-eyes and deal 2400 burn dmg, though you cannot summon anything else you still have a Black Dragon Archfiend out so it levels out. You have a saqlifice type card that can add ANY red-eyes CARD, so you can add red-eyes fusion, darkness metal dragon and any other card that may be useful in the situation you are in though i would mostly add darkness metal dragon to my hand. Then there is my favorite card in this set Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. For one its immune to destruction while it has material, and every time your opponent activates a card effect he automatically loses 500 lp and its NOT once per turn, and also he can revive any red-eyes normal monster in your graveyard which includes the gemini monsters released in this set(I didn't cover their effect but they are legit.). Then there is the trap, that is a multi call of haunted for Red-Eyes Black Dragon and then it can revive any red-eyes monster when its destroyed, so hello red-eyes darkness metal dragon.

My thoughts on competitiveness:
Konami has given red-eyes a good amount of searchabilty and recyclabilty(made up word) and very powerful boss monster that not only are able to deal significant battle dmg, but a significant amount of burn dmg at the same time. Red-Eyes Flare dragon's effect deal 500 burn dmg per card you're opponent controls is extra significant this format because decks like Nekroz and Ba will activate at least 3 or 4 effects to get anything done, so thats an auto -2000 plus they still have to deal with a 2800 beater. Stone gives the deck a lot of consistency and allows you're red-eyes to be always live. Essential with this new support you will always have atleast a red-eyes on board, if not one of his many more powerful forms will be out easily. Besides for floodgates i think red-eyes will have a good match-up against most of them competitive decks save satellars since they play a shit ton of back row.In Nekroz Unicore isn't that useful since you don't have to rely on your xyzs since you have plenty of main deck answers, trish may be annoying but even if he banishes you're stuff, you have enough searchability and easy summons to make up for that, valk can be a problem but you can equip a black metal dragon to any red-eyes monster or summon black archfiend dragon to take care of him. Even with qlis maining skill drain, red-eyes and qli beatsticks are about equal though qli have the advantage of being pendulum and just being reused turn and turn again where as red-eyes aren't so i think the match up will rely on who has the better trap line-up. Masked heroes red-eyes can easily get a red-eyes to suicide or get a stronger form of red-eyes to beat over dark law and since u don't rely to much on backrow acid isn't too much of a problem. Idk much about spirit beats to discuss about them, i jusy know they add their own infernity break alot. so all in all, red-eyes probably won't be the BEST deck, but is very viable with tier 1 potential.
