Ra Homework 1/2/16 Empty
PostSubject: Ra Homework 1/2/16   Ra Homework 1/2/16 EmptySat Jan 02, 2016 8:59 pm

Welcome Back from the Holidays Ra Duelists! After our recent break (due to popular requests) we are ready to being your first official Semester.
After all 4 weeks are completed those of you who showed exception effort and completed all 4 homeworks from here on out will be recommended
to the Obelisk Dorm.

---------[Consistency]---------

The January 2014 Format was one of my favorite formats in yugioh. With dragon rulers getting limited lead to a format
of fire vs water.

This format was very skilled. Not necessarily in terms of skill considering +1 Fire Fists were very linear. However deckbuilding was essential and lead to constant struggle for first until Mermails took it in the last part of the format.

For Fire Fists; the goal was to maximize consistency. Most pros claimed that +1 Fire Fists could never brick. However, the deck throughouly struggled to go up against established boards. Thus, the goal of fire fists players was to win off of pure card advantage. If you ever were topdecking vs Fire Fists its an uphill climb.

Mermails are a combo based deck and therefore have the inherent weakness of needing multiple cards to gain advantage, and drawing the right pieces.
However, Mermails could easily establish a big board turn 1 that Fire Fist would struggle versus.  Mermails also could easily stall behind sphere/abysslinde for a few turns until they got the pieces they needed. But overall whoever went first had
the big advantage.

Towards the end of the format; a Pro player by the name of Patrick Hoban made mermails with the thought of maxing out consistency. Thus, he ran 3 Upstart and 3 Reckless to turbo into big boards early and win before Fire Fists could grind out the game. Cards like Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree was very big towards his success.

Something later discovered but not very popular was the inclusion of Smokescreening, where Bujin and Fire Fist Decks would be interchanged via side deck

Honorable mentions of the Format also go towards Geargia and Harpies as they were definitely able to hold their own. So with the idea of consistency in mind. Let's apply this to the upcoming BOSH format.

PePe will undesputbily be the best deck; However in the OCG we saw a great diversity in the last few formats PePe existed. Cards such as Solemn Notice are big in debate here in the TCG along with ariadne, however in the later formats of PePe in the OCG almost all traps were dropped with the exception of Typhoon.

Also a recent occurance has been the rise of X-Saber Palomuro being used as a searchable earth tuner for first turn nat beasts,
as well as a hybrid build involving Pendulum call and magicians to abuse their power cards for consistency.

So for your homework, PM me what you think is the most consistent decklist you could make. With each of the following:

- Goal of your deck (Is it first turn CDI + Triple Notice? Is it built to counter First Turn CDI/Rafflesia?).

- Cards that Remove your opponents advantage or give you advantage.

- Hypergeometric Distrubtion to figure out percentages for opening hands (You can find a calculator here: http://stattrek.com/online-calculator/hypergeometric.aspx)

- Cards to Consider as Techs:

Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit
Maxx "C"
Effect Veiler
Typhoon
Solemn Notice/Ariadne
Archfiend Eccentrick
Pendulm Magicians
X-Saber Palomuro

Please Remember to Private Message me your deck/explanation. Dorm Members who complete this will recieve 200 DP (Minimum), and hang on to your decklists; as You will need them for your next homework.

If you think this homework is too easy, you can also build a mermail decklist with the same thought process in mind (Consistnecy) for the BOSH Format for an extra 100 DP

Remember to explain all of your card choices!

I already have a consistent deck list in mind. This shouldn't be too hard, wait so ANY decks are allowed for use in the homework? Or did I not read EVERYTHING?

If you like you can use any deck in reference to the BOSH Format. Just as long as you go in depth when explaining your card choices.
